Nicola Yvette began ballet at the age of four and has not stopped dancing since. Her love of dance and movement has led her to a career as an instructor in Pilates, Vinyasa Yoga, movement and strength training. The body is a form of expression, a creative instrument, a testament to ones personal health and well being. Just as a doctor would prescribe medicine, she approaches each client with care and patience, developing a regimen of training designed to improve one’s physique and health. Her enthusiasm and zest for her craft comes across in her teaching. Her compassion for her clients is unparalleled.
In 2002, Nicola began her career as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. Shortly thereafter she worked in a spinal rehabilitation clinic and witnessed the ‘impossible’ – people walked again. That experience taught her the importance of biomechanics and how proper alignment links the body and mind. In 2010, she received full apparatus and mat certification in Pilates and began to develop her own innovations within the practice. Most recently she became Vinyasa Yoga certified and incorporates core strength to help guide the yoga asana practice. Her routines are innovative, fun and meant to challenge. She holds certifications in multiple fitness and health disciplines.
Nicola is a dynamic person and a student of life. She is an amateur photographer, seamstress, runner, traveler and writer. She dances several disciplines including ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop and is currently studying ballroom. She attended UC Berkeley, University of Amsterdam and graduated at the University of Alaska with a Bachelors of Liberal Arts and Business Administration. She resides in the west village in her new (new to her but pre-war) apartment with her husband.
Let your body be a testament to your health. – Nicola Yvette
